ロサンゼルス旅行記 その4
会社の人に写真が見たいと言われ、昨日渡しました。が、まだ返ってきません。
戻ってきたら、スーパーシャトルの写真をアップします。
しばし、お待ちください。
「ロサンゼルス旅行記 その4」
アメリカン航空のベンチに座って待つことにしたが、時間を決めることにした。12時10分になっても彼が来なかったら、ホテルに行こうと考えた。
実は15日4時起きしたのだけど、緊張してほとんど眠れていなかった。機内では少しは眠れた。けど、緊張感からかだるくて、すぐにでも横になりたい感じだった。
12時10分になった。私はベンチを立ち、シャトルバスの写真が表示されている掲示板を見た。「スーパーシャトル」、それは頻繁に空港内を走っていた。乗り場が合っているか確かめるため、スタッフの女性（今度は白人）に「ダウンタウンに行くにはどうすればいいか」聞いた。彼女はスーパーシャトルのスペルを紙に書いてくれ、「文字がオレンジ、ボディが青の車」だと言った。
スーパーシャトルが頻繁に停まる場所に言った。トランシーバーを持った黒人男性スタッフらしき人に話しかけられた。けど、何を言っているのか全く理解できず、しばらく立って様子をうかがった。
勇気を出して、さっきの黒人男性に「ダウンタウンに行きたい」と話しかけた。彼は「50分に出発する」（たぶん）と言ってきた。
スーパーシャトルはフロントガラスに行き先が手書きで書いてある、乗り合いのワゴンだ。
ダウンタウン行きが来た。黒人スタッフが、「ダウンタウンだ。」と教えてくれた。運転手が出て来て、荷物を後ろに乗せてくれた。黒人スタッフがアドレスを聞いてきた。私は「ニューオータニ」と答えた。そのスタッフはリトル東京のニューオータニとすぐ理解してくれ、運転手に指示をしてくれた。
そして私はそのスーパーシャトルに乗り込んだ。
